"Indigneous Knowledge and Bioprospecting" -Painted by John Hunter
This painting focuses on the themes of the rebirth of Indigenous cultural
and ecological diversity, the importance of unity and diversity among the
different races, consultation and a celebration of spiritual knowledge.
John Hunter is with the Warawawa Indigenous Studies Department at Macquarie
University in Australia. He describes himself as “a Gamilaraay Murri,
Australian Aboriginal man of the Gamilaraay tribe from north western NSW
(New South Wales, Australia). A member of the Mt Druitt Aboriginal
community, the largest Aboriginal community in Australia, situated in western
Sydney. Primarily involved in cultural revival and the retention/protection
of Aboriginal cultural heritage.”
